August 2012 Board Meeting

at Brentwood Country Club

Our August Board meeting took place at the exclusive Brentwood Country Club and featured a spirited presentation by famed former Notre Dame and Los Angeles Lakers basketball sensation Tommy Hawkins. Hawkins spoke of his personal and professional challenges at breaking barriers and his inspiring resolve to overcome life’s many obstacles, which he said are really “opportunities in disguise.”

Recently, Hawkins completed 18 years as Vice President of Communications and External Affairs for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is an Emmy© nominated sports broadcaster and is the author of the best-selling book, “Life’s Reflections: Poetry for the People.” His presentation was met with thunderous applause and served as a reminder to us all of the importance of self-confidence.

One of the evening’s highlights was President Izzy Freeman’s proud announcement that The Guardians has allocated in excess of $1 million to the Los Angeles Jewish Home this year, for the first time in a decade! Congratulations to all on this remarkable achievement.
